Tholkappiam,Thirukkural and Bible never accepts Sex before Marriage.
Kushboo Cine Actress spoke a few years ago of the need for safe sex at a time when live-in relationships and premarital sex were not unusual, actress Kushboo was hounded by Tamil enthusiasts, who saw in her remarks an affront to Tamil culture. However, following the recent Supreme Court’s observation that there was nothing illegal about such a relationship.
On Wednesday [25-3-2010], Kalaignar Karunanidhi, Chief Minister, cited ancient Tamil literature to contend that some did see such issues in a favourable light. Asked for his reaction to the apex court’s remark that a live-in relationship and, by inference, pre-marital sex, was not an offence, he said, “There is a section called ‘kalaviyal’ (clandestine love) in Sangam literature. Some people approach the issue on that basis.”
In Sangam literature “Kalaviyal” by Tholkappiar or in Thiruvalluvar Thirukkural they never accept pre-martial sex and they have emphasized only about love marriage and arranged marriages. They have also guided the way of how a Tamil girl to lead her life and run the family with honour. Karpu was the marrying off the girl with ceremonies to a man of status acceptable to the parents of both sides (Tolkappiyam, Karpiyal.142).
Tirukkural is considered as a post-Sangam period work, it closely embraces Tolkappiyam in principle. It not only glorifies the social acceptance of one-man one-woman concept of marriage.
All of the Bible verses that condemn sexual immorality as being sinful also condemn sex before marriage as sinful. Sex before marriage is included in the biblical definition of sexual immorality. Numerous Scriptures declare sex before marriage to be a sin
